TURKEY’S
PLACE
IN THE RESHAPING WORLD IN THE POST SADDAM ERA
No one, including President Bush himself, seems to have a clear idea of the prospects of world developments now that Pandora’s box has been opened with the downfall of the Saddam dictatorship in Iraq by an equally highhanded, if not dictatorial, military action carried out by the US-guided Coalition, a totally arbitrary international gathering of an unclear nature, bounds or legal grounds. Everyone, however, is in a hurry to make preparations for their future security in the light of the possibility of replacing the established United Nations system with such a mysterious arrangement guided by a super power under the leadership of a bunch of adventurers who openly say “We will now see if there is need for the UN or not,” but who are, thank God, frustrated by their own democratic system and law abiding, incorruptible, honest people, American or otherwise. And where is Turkey standing in these fast unrolling world events? Please see the article below for an objective analysis.
